Passive Building
Research from the National Association of Home Builders shows that energy efficiency is a primary driver for new home buyers. The most advanced building technology for efficiency is known as passive building (aka Passive House), which uses a fraction of the energy to heat and cool compared to conventional construction. All this can be done with minimal to no increased construction cost.
Description
How is this possible? We talked to Chris Senior to find out. Chris built the very first certified Passive Houses in North Carolina and is still making his clients happy with these smart and simple techniques.
This course reviews two passive building techniques, one ancient and one brand new. Passive House (also called passive building) is a high-performance building standard resulting in ultra-low energy structures. Passive Solar is a building practice with ancient roots which uses the movement of the sun to strategically mitigate indoor temperatures. Both of these strategies increase comfort and minimize energy use.
